Andréana was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. Her father, of Spanish Gypsy descent, is a flamenco guitarist, who played for
well-known flamenco dancers.
Her mother is an accomplished classical pianist. Family gatherings were filled with flamenco music and dance. Uncles, aunts, and cousins would contribute to the family artistic festivals.
Andréana's formal music education began with flute in high school.
Guitar was taken up a little later, but singing has always been a part of her life.
Learning guitar led to studying jazz and other music forms at Music Tech and flamenco lessons from her father.
Her instrument collection now includes acoustic electric, electric, and classical guitars.
Singing and songwriting became a larger part of Andréana's life in the mid 1990s.
In the late '90s, songwriting became a passion that Andréana has pursued to this day. She has written nearly all the music she now performs live. Her music extends a message of struggle, overcoming, and hope to audiences today.
Currently, Andréana is performing at local establishments around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and its suburbs and working on a recording
project. Many of her gigs are solo, but when appropriate, Andréana loves to assemble a small band, known as Rhythm Poets, to back her performance.
